Brasiliense Sam Defor is a singer, guitarist, composer and music educator.
With a BA in music from the University of Brasilia, Sam carries in her repertoire great influence of her research on Brazilian “cancioneiro.” Her passion for music started early. Her first musical memories are from her childhood, including her grandfather’s mandolin and her father’s African music collection.
Most recently, Sam Defor is part of the band Contém Dendê, formed by black women to spread music and the Afro-Brazilian identity. Sam is also part of the carnaval group Essa Boquinha Eu Já Beijei, one of the biggest attractions of Brasilia’s carnaval.
